The Moody Crewe : The Moody Crewe is a group of local pirates formed in the Hampton Roads, VA area who portray the pirate crew of Christopher Moody who operated off the coasts of NC and SC between 1717 - 1718. The purpose of this crew will be to educate landlubbers (especially children) using both educational and entertaining activities, in the life of the typical pirate in the Golden Age of piracy. Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum : The Moody Crewe visited the Naval Shipyard Museum in Portsmouth, VA on May 3rd, 2008. In addition to setting up the Goose & Bull Tavern, where visitors got a taste of a pirate's favorite hangout, the crewe also held a "School of the Pirate" were aspiring little pirates learned some of the necessary skills to become worthy seamen.

Scurvy Awareness Day : The Moody Crewe joined forces with the Calypso Nuts Band to help celebrate International Scurvy Awareness Day on May 2nd, 2008. The patrons of Buskey's Chill & Grill restaurant in Chesapeake were treated to good music and pandering pirates as the Crewe kicked off our fundraising efforts for the "Treasure the Chest" breast cancer awareness fundraiser to be held in Virginia Beach later this summer.
